Blockchain

A blockchain is a public ledger that facilitates the transfer, recording, and storage of digital assets in a secure encrypted database that is distributed across many computers on the internet.

Blockchain

This distribution of duplicative data across many computers, also known as a Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), allows for multi-source validation of every transaction before it is accepted by the entire blockchain. Because the data resides on many computers, the data is secure from tampering. However, because so many computers are involved in confirming and storing each transaction, crypto technology has a reputation for utilizing a lot of energy.
